Copywriting and Content Strategy for Pediatric Healthcare & Special Education Brands

Are you ready to save time, make money, and authentically connect to individuals with special medical and educational needs? Me too!

Improving the lives of children is your mission. It’s what you do best! You specialize in helping kids, and their families, with special healthcare and education needs.

Yet there are barriers to providing kids access to the healthcare, therapy, and education services they deserve:

  • Insurance paperwork becomes a huge drain on your most valuable resource, time.

  • Industry regulations force you to conform to standards that go against your intuition and training. And they cost you money.

  • Administrative oversight distracts you from the reason you pursued your career in the first place, the kids.

As an experienced marketing manager, I understand the external pressures you face to keep your business afloat. As a copywriter, I am committed to helping ease these pressures by writing copy that converts to sales for your business and services that will ultimately change the lives of your clients.

Did you know making simple changes to your marketing copy can make a big difference in connecting with the people who need you most?

Here are some types of copy I write that will improve your bottom line:

  • SEO-optimized website copy sends people searching for your products or services to you. This comprehensive inbound marketing strategy wins you leads.

  • Useful information provided through an email funnel builds trust with your potential clients, causing them to use your product or service.

  • Compelling and easy-to-understand product descriptions give your customers the information they need to know to hit the “Add to Cart” button.

  • Well-written professional bios help connect the right therapist or provider with the unique needs of each child. This makes the whole process of finding a good fit easier, saving you both time and money.

  • Relevant blog posts establish long-term relationships with your reader as well as add to a solid SEO strategy.

Strong marketing copy can convert into paying patients and long-term clients.

I understand the importance of helping kids with special needs progress to their fullest potential. I am a mom to a little boy with disabilities. What People Are Saying…

Kathy was able to take the thoughts and dreams of our CCC Family Workgroup and produce a beautiful “Roadmap” for our new quality improvement project. This required her to think about this one page document from many different perspectives. The document had to be family and patient centered but also include the clinic workflow process. She is able to take all the feedback from the Family Workgroup and Clinic team and merge everyone’s ideas into this beautiful infographic.
— Sherry Santa, Family Liason, Dell Children's Comprehensive Care Clinic
Kathy is a talented writer and storyteller with an ability to not just effectively communicate valid information, but to also infuse a human element to her writing. Her experiences as a patient caregiver give her a unique perspective when creating content for the medical community. As a contributor for Hand to Hold, Kathy exuded a great enthusiasm for sharing her knowledge to ensure other NICU families like hers felt supported. She is a joy to work with.
— Leigh Ann Torres, Managing Editor, Hand to Hold
From the beginning, she understood our value and purpose.  As a mom of a son with special needs, she brought the parent’s perspective to her work and did such a wonderful job speaking in a voice that conveyed our message that could connect with our clients’ needs.  Kathy has an amazing spirit of collaboration and curiosity and brings so many unique ideas and perspectives to the work we do together.  Working with Kathy feels like having a teammate who is as invested in our practice’s success as we are.

We have something in common.

We both want kids and their caregivers to live their best life now. Let me help grow your business with specialized marketing copy.

Hi, I’m Kathy, a pediatric healthcare products and services copywriter. I am also a mom who “gets it.”

Before becoming a mom I worked in marketing. My work included promoting medical journals and online publications for the American Academy of Pediatrics and parenting books for Tyndale House Publishers. When my second son was born with a rare genetic condition, I was thrust into the world of special needs parenting.

I sit on both sides of the table.

I am a marketer of compelling copy that starts conversations and leads to life-change. I love crafting copy that provides people with the information they need to take action.

I am the parent of a child with special health care needs. I work with durable medical equipment companies, therapy clinics, and nursing agencies that help ensure my child has the best quality of life he can.

When my son was born almost a decade ago, we learned of his medical complications and disabilities. Over the years, we have scoured the internet to find the right medical care, specialized products, and therapies to improve the quality of his life.

Finding the right fit from adaptive aids to therapy services is a lot of trial and error.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve purchased medical equipment that turned out to be the wrong fit for my son. Whether because it was recommended by a salesperson who didn’t know my child. Or, because I didn’t know there was something better out there.

The same sort of thing happens with therapy services. It isn’t as easy as calling a clinic and setting up OT services. Many times I don’t know if a therapist is going to be a good fit until they start working with my child.

It doesn’t have to be this hard!

As a copywriter and a caregiver I am able to quickly get to the heart of your brand and deliver messaging that delivers the results you’re looking for.

  • Copywriting is persuasive writing that compels the reader to take action. The action could help you make a sale, book an appointment, add subscribers to your email list. It could even change the habits of your audience or help them consider something new. Copywriting helps your clients take the next step. And it is an especially effective way of communicating with the reader because you know them and you empathize with their problems and challenges.

In the case of medical and rehabilitation copy, it is writing that is genuinely helpful. You supply a product or service to help kids and their caregivers, right? Well, copywriting will get what you’re selling or providing into the hands of the people who need it most.

Copywriting is raving about a product or service to the audience who needs that exact product or service. This is an especially important form of writing in the pediatric world.

Depending on your goals, copywriting can…

Provide a solution to a problem you're having.

Highlight a benefit of your product you never thought of before.

Invoke positive emotions around your brand.

Connect with your audience in a meaningful way.

It can also entertain, inspire, or educate.

Copywriting is using the right words to connect with the right audience. And using the right words has the potential to turn your target audience into lifelong patients and clients.

Kick-off Call: Next, we set up a kick-off call with all the key players of your team. I want to get a solid grasp of your business and how I can help solve your communication and marketing challenges. This also helps us set expectations of what exactly I’ll deliver to you.

  • Chances are you have big goals for your business. And if you have big goals, you need a copywriter.

Do you need to establish your brand presence within an industry?

Do you need to rebrand your product or service?

Do you want to sell more products or book more services?

Do you need to increase online traffic, click-through, and conversion rates?

Do you need an inbound marketing strategy using SEO?

Do you need to reach a new target market?

Do you need to launch a new product or service?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you will benefit from copywriting services.

  • Copywriting leads to conversions. Conversions can be inbound leads, purchases, services booked, click-throughs, subscriptions, you name it. Conversions can even be as intangible as helping someone change their mind about a product or service and try something new. Whatever the goal of your project, copywriting converts.

Besides improving the metrics of your business, copywriting helps build your brand. Your brand voice is important in all your communication pieces. It speaks the personality of your brand and offers credibility. Wherever your clients are reading about your products and services, your audience will recognize your brand based on the voice given to your copy. Brand voice expresses itself consistently whether it be on your website copy, emails, product descriptions, etc.

  • The cost depends on the type of project and the scope of the work. I am willing to work within your budget which we will also discuss during your consult. Based on our initial call about your goals, I’ll write a proposal for you. The proposal will contain my copywriting recommendations, an estimated timeline, and the cost of the work.

  • Creating an SEO-optimized website is crucial for any business. To do so, I start by doing an audit of your existing site. This will tell me how well you are performing in Google searches for the keywords your clients are searching for.

Once I have an idea of your online goals and existing online performance, I will write copy that is SEO optimized. This means you rank higher in search engine results. There are many factors that contribute to good SEO: identifying keywords, tagging headlines and pictures, meeting a word count requirement, and a few other things. These simple tricks will help the crawlers pick up your website thereby connecting you to the audience that needs you.
